Yusaku kamekura- Tokyo 1964 Olympics Posters.
My choice of Final Ideas of The Olympics.
Final Ideas Ideas after the critic from my tutors, I just went by what they said and told me what to do, They shall choose the final ones on Monday. But for now out of all of these I am going to post my favourite two. I would love your advise. Thank you xx
Other Double page spreads I designed, I really enjoyed all the experimenting and creating. Staying true to my style of work :)
Based on a theme “energy” + “Power” to reflect the Olympics, I created these pieces by combining photography in my work. I am really proud of my work and the over all achievements.
The Beuaty Of The Deformed.
I took a photograph and played around with the photograph in Photoshop, I also added an other photograph so I could get the textures I wanted. I actually really liked the photograph I took in Poland, I would really like to redraw the original and then Photoshop it again. I think changing and playing around with different images is fun and I enjoying creating work like this. I have made a whole set to showcase the different colours and textures I could create and make my own.
Here are some experimented designs, Some I love some I dislike. It really shows an idea of how I started off and the experiments I was playing around with. I would say it was fun to do these pieces. But I really think it helped me realise what I really wanted to achieve. I actually like the imperfections sometimes, I am not afraid to broadcast them because I want to show growth and knowledge in what I am doing.
“Posters for the London Olympics have been released and there’s an impressive list of British artists including Martin Creed, Bridget Riley and Tracey Emin. My favourite by far is Rachel Whiteread’s which is simple, colourful and clearly Olympics based.”
I agree I would also like to add how playful each of these designs are, It really does show design today. I think these designs show that the main theme “The Olympics” is presented individually but still have an element of personality and colour.
These are some other Ideas of my Olympics Cover designs, I really wanted to play with texture yet prove that the image can look attractive and not to over designed. I really am happy with these designs, I really feel there is an element of me in everything I have produced. Some can be a bit too chaotic but I think I found a way to catch a viewers eye. I really was enthusiastic and excited to be doing this work and I really wanted to show that in my work. The most toughest part of this was type, I really found it hard how to place type and where type should go. I felt like everything I knew about type had just gone out the window. I wish I played more with type and not had been scared to use typography. I just thought if I put in some type elements the cover would look over designed.
My Olympics Front covers based on one idea but different colours, I stayed true to textures which I love to put in my work, i really do like the design and I feel it does stand out. I think these as a collection really look great together and it shows the different changes I have made. Based on these designs I really wanted to create energy and power. I really think my idea has come across just how I wanted it to be. I am proud to say this is my work.
